Figure in the urban landscape, solo show at Robin Gibson Gallery 2008
These etchings and paintings were created between 2007 and 2008. The work explores the figure in the urban landscape depicting vernacular scenes from my everyday life. The characters perform mundane rituals of urban life, in transit, having lunch or simply waiting. Not only does the landscape define us, we also play and important role in defining the landscape that we inhabit.

Etched in Memory, solo show at Robin Gibson Gallery
Etched in Memory (2009–2010) developed from stories my mother told me about her childhood in Greece — ghosts walking the staircase at night, running from a bomb shelter to rescue a pet pig, walking with her mother through poppy fields, and the flowers she remembered most vividly from home.
As dementia began to affect her memory, I felt I was beginning to lose parts of her and the stories she had shared with me since I was a child. I wanted to hold onto them — not only because they meant so much to her, but because through years of hearing them, they had also become part of my own memory.
The works grew from the scenes I had imagined as a child while listening to her stories. I had never experienced these moments myself, but in my imagination they had become vivid places and images. As her memories began to disappear, making the work became a way of holding onto both her stories and the way I had carried them with me.
