The Landscape We Carry

These works examine how our perception of landscape is shaped by previous experience. The places we have encountered, together with personal, cultural and emotional associations, influence how we interpret new surroundings. Different locations overlap within the works, reflecting the way one landscape can affect how another is seen and understood.

The works are created from a series of ten etching plates using softground, drypoint and direct drawing with a Dremel. The plates are printed in different combinations, overlapping and reconfiguring fragments of line, texture and landscape. The same marks shift between works, reflecting the way our perception of place is continually reshaped through experience. Shown at Sydney Contemporary 2025
