The Landscape We Drove Through Reminds Me Of Another Place

These works explore how experiencing one landscape can evoke memories of another. Familiarity emerges through past experience, as the landscape being observed becomes entangled with places previously encountered and remembered.

Created through digital and monoprint processes, the works combine motion-blurred photographs of landscapes encountered while travelling through the USA with monoprinted and drawn imagery of Australian landscapes. Bringing these geographically separate places together within a single image reflects the way one landscape can influence how another is seen and remembered.

Observed and remembered places overlap, bringing the immediate experience of landscape together with memory and association.
