The Landscape We Carry - Paintings

These paintings consider landscape as an accumulation of perception, memory and experience. Places encountered in the present become entangled with those experienced before, allowing familiarity and association to enter into how a landscape is seen.

Working in acrylic and oil stick, images are built through successive layers of painting and drawing. Forms emerge, are obscured and reworked, while drawing across the painted surface shifts the image between observation and recollection. The landscape remains recognisable, but is transformed through the process of painting and the accumulation of experience. 2023 -2026
